As Facebook continues to evolve,
Meta’s flagship social-media platform is inviting users to “fine tune” their experience by directing the app’s algorithms with written prompts related to which content they
most want to see on their Feed and Reels pages.
According to the company’s announcement, users can use the
“Your Algorithm” feature to “interact directly with the algorithms that rank and recommend what you see on Facebook” in an effort to create “more relevant,”
“more nuanced” content viewing experiences.
Located in the three-dot menu in the upper right-hand corner of a
post, users are able to select “interested” or “not interested,” informing Facebook’s AI-powered systems’ future content recommendations.

However, users can also direct the platform’s ranking system conversationally. By selecting “Tell us in your
own words,” users can describe which types of content they want more or less of.
Facebook’s
algorithms are designed to update in real-time.
Meta’s “Your Algorithm” feature initially launched in 2024
on Instagram, drawing a direct parallel to TikTok’s 2024 “Manage Topics” launch.
For the past few years, feed customization has become a more
popular focus for social-media platforms, including Bluesky and YouTube.
Earlier this year, LinkedIn also
began experimenting with a range of topic-focused content feeds recommended to users based on what they engage with most on the platform, as well as trending news stories that may be of interest to
LinkedIn's professional audience.
In February, Meta introduced a similar feature on its Threads app, which invites users
to create a public post starting with “Dear Algo,” followed by instructions on what kind of content the user wants to see more or less of.
Facebook has undergone notable changes in the past year, with the company redesigning the app’s feed to prioritize popular formats
like Marketplace and Reels, while also testing a full-screen
video-first Reels feed upon opening the app.
