    Web security consultant George Deglin has discovered an "exploit," or security issue, that allows malicious sites to immediately harvest a Facebook user's name, email, and data shared with 'everyone' on Facebook, with no action required on the user's part, TechCrunch reports. "This specific exploit has been patched, and no user data was compromised, but the security problems behind it remain." The so-called exploit reportedly took advantage of Cross Site Scripting to inject malicious code into popular business review site Yelp.   • Bing Bows Turn-By-Turn Navigation
    Challenging Google and Nokia -- along with dedicated turn-by-turn GPS navigators like Garmin and TomTom -- Bing just added voice-guided turn-by-turn navigation to its mobile app for Windows Phones 6.1 and above. "Now when getting directions with Bing, you'll see a new 'Navigate' button," Microsoft says. "By selecting it, Bing will calculate your route, and guide you as you drive." Search Engine Land's Greg Sterling want to know: "Will this feature come to the excellent Bing iPhone app?" According to Sterling: "Google has been holding back Navigation from the iPhone (my guess is to try and differentiate Android handsets)." …
  • Target, Macy's Give Millions To Fight Hunger
    Two major retailers have announced gifts to feed hungry Americans. Because hunger is the classroom is a growing problem, Target says it is giving $3.5 million to Meals For Minds, a partnership between Feeding America and local food banks. The gift includes $2.3 million to the program, as well as $1.2 million to local food banks, and 20 million pounds of food to children and families in need in 2010. The Minneapolis-based retailer says 62% of teachers say that students come to school hungry each week, and 63% report buying food for the classroom with their own money. …
  • Universal's Lee To Architect McCann Worldgroup Integration
    In his first move as CEO of McCann Worldgroup, Nick Brien just announced a slight restructuring of the Interpublic shop's global leadership team, naming Daryl Lee "chief integration architect," and promoting Lee Daley to chief strategy officer of McCann Erickson Worldwide. As part of the reorganization Eric Einhorn continues as McCann Worldgroup Chief Strategy Officer, adding a new corporate planning function. Lee joins McCann Worldgroup from head of global strategy at Universal McCann.

    Kenny Chesney and Kmart have linked up for a nationwide distribution deal for his latest movie project - "Kenny Chesney: Summer in 3D." Kmart will sell the 2D version of the concert film in DVD and Blu-ray on Kmart.com, beginning May 11, followed by the nationwide distribution in Kmart stores on June 13. The film follows Chesney's Sun City Carnival Tour in Boston, Indianapolis, Philadelphia, Pittsburgh, San Francisco and Seattle.     Toyota is aiming for music-loving younger consumers with a new marketing program on MySpace that extends upon a similar program that Toyota tried last year. The program, Toyota Music Rock the Space 2 focuses on getting indie bands without a label to compete for a contract with MySpace Records. The effort, running through June 7, aims to get music acts to go to Toyota's MySpace Music site at MySpace.com/ToyotaMusic and submit an MP3 demo for consideration.     Google is on a hiring spree. The search engine has more than 40 marketing and communications openings in its Mountain View office. Other positions focus on social networks for products and strategy experts. The job title reads: Director of Product Management, Social. One social position brought to light by GigaOm's Liz Gannes through a recruiting letter describes a "Head of Social. Gannes also reminds us Google's "dominance has a gaping hole on the social Web."
  • NPD Android Numbers Gives Google I/0 Event Jolt
    Google got some good news today from The NPD Group as it prepares for about 4,000 developers to converge on the San Francisco Moscone Center. NPD released the numbers just prior to Google I/O conference set to kickoff May 19 and 20. That's when the search engine turns a focus toward technical sessions and lectures organized around Google Web Toolkit, APIs, Android and Chrome. The Android OS ended the quarter with U.S. market share of 28%, up from approximately 20% in the December quarter.   • Twitter Hit With Bug, Fixed
    Twitter identified a strange bug that permitted a user to "force" others to follow them. Twitter cofounder Biz Stone said the company is working to rollback "abuse" caused by the bug. Follower and following numbers were set to zero, but for the most part the problem has been solved. Plans are in the works to resolve that problem, too.
