  • PHD Wins Sony Ericsson Global Media Assignment
    Mobile phone giant Sony Ericsson has awarded Omnicom Group's PHD its global planning and buying assignment after a review, per sources. The company spends an estimated $200 million on ads worldwide. The incumbent was WPP's MEC, which had the account for a decade. Just last month, Sony and Ericsson decided to end the phone venture with Sony agreeing to buy out its Swedish telecom partner. That didn't bode well for MEC, as Omnicom has a number of pieces of Sony business around the globe.

    Global ad research aggregator and publisher WARC this morning said it cut its advertising growth forecast for nine of the 12 advertising markets it tracks in its "International Ad Forecast" report. "Only Russia, Canada and Japan have escaped downward revisions for 2011 and 2012," the research organization said.

    Ex-Apple executive Tim Jenkins has been named CEO of mobile ad company 4INFO, replacing founder Zaw Thet in that role. Thet has taken the title of “Chief Evangelist” at the company. Prior to joining 4INFO as COO in September, Jenkins was CFO at Solera Networks, a network security firm. He has also served in various C-level positions at companies including ONStor Inc. E2open, Simpata (where he was CEO from 2000 to 2003) and Creative Wonders.
