• Kellogg's Consolidates Pringles U.S. Media At Starcom
    Pringles has named Starcom USA its U.S. media agency of record. The move, which follows Pringle's acquisition from Procter & Gamble earlier this year, occured without a review. Starcom sister agency MediaVest had handled media-buying and GroupM's MediaCom unit handled media-planning. According AdViews, Pringles spent an estimated $35 million on media in 2011.

  • Flurry Raises $25M, Eyes IPO
    App advertising and analytics firm has raised $25 million in a fourth-round funding led by Crosslink Capital and including prior investors Draper Fisher Jurvetson, InterWest Partners, Union Square Ventures, First Round Capital and Draper Richards. According to a GigaOm report, Flurry will use the financing to expand internationally into markets such as South Korea, Japan and Latin America next year. The company is also looking at an initial public offering in the second half of 2013, according to CEO Simon Khalaf. Flurry has raised a total of $51.6 million to date.

    Professional networking site LinkedIn on Thursday reported revenue increased 81% in the third quarter, with growth in its hiring and subscription services businesses especially strong. Net income for the quarter was $2.3 million compared with a loss of $1.6 million a year ago. On an adjusted basis, LinkedIn reported a profit of $25.1 million, or 22 cents a share. Revenue rose to $252 million from $139.5 million in the year-earlier period.     Google’s Android operating system ran on three quarters of smartphones shipped globally in the third quarter, according to data released Thursday by IDC. Android’s 75% market share is up from 57.5% a year ago and far ahead of its next closest competitor—Apple’s iOS platform—which had 15% share.
