    Pinger, maker of the popular texting app Textfree, has expanded the ad options for its upgraded "Pinger" for free texting and calling.     Facebook’s initial public offering heightened awareness that its mobile growth was outpacing its overall growth, to the tune of 500 million mobile users worldwide. Reflecting that shift toward device-based use, Facebook is updating reach of a brand’s page posts to include mobile data. Starting today, mobile distribution will count toward a page’s total reach, according to the Inside Facebook blog.   • App Tester Apica Lands $5 Million
    Apica, which offers a testing and performance-monitoring service for cloud and mobile applications, announced Monday raising $5 million. The third-round funding was led by SEB Venture Capital, and including prior investors Industrifonden, ALMI Invest, and KTH Chalmers Capital. The Silicon Valley firm said it will use the latest investment for product development, marketing, and expanding its server and testing capacity. Apica says its software suite allows clients to test apps for maximum use capacity, daily performance, improved load times and protect against peak loads.
