Colleen Hill, an art director at MRM Detroit, won the digital shop's "I am MRM" contest," and gets to be the agency's ambassador to the Cannes Lions International Festival of Creativity as a Young Lion. The contest, which asked MRM employees to submit one paragraph and one visual representation why they should be selected as the best candidate to characterize "I am MRM" at the festival. Entries were scored for passion, creativity, idea, presentation and content.

Kindle Fire sales dropped off dramatically in the first quarter as tablet buyers flocked to the third-generation iPad and Samsung Galaxy Tab.
New findings released today by ChangeWave underscore the diminished demand for the Amazon tablet that sold almost 5 million units during the 2011 holiday season. Is TV on golf back? With big TV golf star Tiger Woods winning The Memorial, televised on CBS this past week, viewership more than doubled for the tournament versus a year ago – to a Nielsen preliminary 3.8 household rating/9 share. The Memorial pulled in a 1.6/4 in 2011. Though Woods won a small tournament some months ago, the athlete hasn’t contended in any major tournament for the last several years – and TV golf ratings have suffered. For the last half-hour of Sunday’s final round -- 5:30 to 6 p.m. -- ratings soared to a 5.7 rating/12 share.

Former Ad Age Editor Jonah Bloom has been promoted to chief strategy officer at MDC Partner's agency KBS+P. He replaces Mick McCabe who left the agency to pursue other opportunities. The news was first reported by the ad blog Agency Spy. Bloom joined the agency about a year ago as content strategy lead. With Bloom's promotion, the agency is also reorganizing its strategy offering with digital, content, social and brand strategy all falling under the purview of Bloom, according to Agency Spy.

If NBC Universal is poised to acquire Microsoft's stake in MSNBC.com, as Adweek recently reported, they must've forgotten to tell their sales organization, because the MSNBC Digital Network just announced a reorganization that will split oversight of its sales effrots in New York City and Redmond, Wash.

With a name that big, you might expect Interpublic-owned, Dumbo-based HUGE to acquire, well, King Kong, but instead, it just announced the acquisition of Portland, Ore.-based King/Coyle, which will be combined to form Huge/KingCoyle. Terms were not disclosed, but they must've been big.

Nintendo outlined services for its content network, Miiverse, and Wii U game console supporting a new social strategy for the company. Nintendo President Satoru Iwata described the platform and console in a webcast. The Wii U will have a Web browser. It will connect players through "Social Windows," similar to Microsoft's Xbox Live, within the same room or in scattered physical locations. The new controller has a touch sensitive pad allowing players to draw with a touch-sensitive pen.

Zynga’s Words With Friends was by far the most popular mobile gaming app in the first quarter, attracting almost 14% of adult U.S. smartphone users monthly, according to new data from Arbitron Mobile. Spin-off word game Hanging With Friends was second, with a 5.5% share of the audience, followed by Solitaire (4.5%), Angry Birds (3.7%) and Temple Run (3.4%.) Words With Friends was second when it came to time spent, with an average of more than six hours a month in the first quarter. Tops in that category was Klondike Solitaire, at over 7 hours a month.
