    Facebook ad partner Nanigans on Tuesday announced closing $5.8 million new funding from Avalon Ventures in Cambridge, Mass. Nanigans said it would use the financing to build out its mobile offerings and expand operations.   The company last year was named as one of a dozen “strategic” partners in Facebook’s Preferred Marketing Developer program, which includes hundreds of agencies and developers.   • Priceline: Mobile Ticket Buyers Younger, More Flexible
      People booking airline travel via mobile skew younger and are more likely to buy one-way tickets, according to a new study from Priceline.   The company says mobile air bookers average 32 years of age, six years younger than their desktop counterparts.   • Tumblr Launches Mobile Ads
      Tumblr on Monday rolled out advertising in its mobile app after announcing plans to do so in March. The blog network launched advertising on the desktop almost a year ago.   Tumblr told Ad Age people using its iOS and Android apps will see up to four ads a day in their streams, with a "sponsored" label and dollar-sign icon in the right corner to set them apart from other posts.       Yahoo made a splash last month when it acquired Summly, the startup launched by U.K.-based 17-year-old Nick D’Aloisio. On Monday, the company released an updated version of its flagship iOS app (in the U.S.) that incorporates technology from the Summly app, which was pulled from the App Store at the time of the acquisition.   The Web portal made good on its promise then that the Summly would “come to life through Yahoo’s mobile experience soon.” The new Yahoo app shows Summly-style summaries of news stories which link to full versions of articles.   • IPG Reports 2.3% Q1 Organic Revenue Growth; Says Its Positioned To Achieve 2013 Financial Targets
    Interpublic Group reported a 2.4% increase in revenue for the first quarter to $1.54 billion and a net loss of $58.5 million, versus a net loss of $45.7 million for the same period a year earlier. Organic revenue growth for the period, which excludes acquisitions and currency fluctuations, was 2.3%. By comparison, Publicis Groupe reported first quarter organic growth of 1.3%, while Omnicom reported growth of 2.9%. The company's organic growth in the U.S. for the period was just 0.5%, versus 4%-plus for both Publicis and Omnicom. IPG said its organic growth outside the U.S. was significantly better at 4.9%. …

    The latest version of LinkedIn's app for the iPhone and Android phones will allow marketers to run ads on smartphones for the first time.     Display Internet advertising globally rose 9.9% last year, fueled by a 21.2% gain in Latin America, according to Nielsen’s latest Global AdView Pulse report. Display Internet spending, however, made up just 1.9% of total ad spending in 2012.   • Omnicom Q1 Profits Flat With Organic Revenue Growth of 2.9%
    Omnicom reported roughly flat net income for the first quarter of 2013 at $205.1 million on a 2.8% revenue increase to $3,398.9 billion. The company posted organic revenue growth in the period of 2.9% worldwide. Organic growth was higher in the U.S. at 4.1% while in countries with Euro currencies an organic revenue decline of 3.7% was recorded. By comparison, Publicis, reporting earlier in the week said its organic revenue growth worldwide was 1.3%, but better in North America where growth was 4.4%.   • Arbitron Shareholders OK Nielsen Takeover
    Most (98.99% of the shares voting and 77.1% of total outstanding shares) of Arbitron's shareholders voted today to approve its acquisition by Nielsen. The $48 per share cash offer, is pending regulatory approval, and is currently in a second review by the Federal Trade Commission, though Arbitron and Nielsen reportedly are poised to strike a consent decree that would include their willingness to license Arbitron's portable people meter technology to other companies.
