Snapchat has secured another $50 million in funding for its fast-growing photo- and video-based mobile messaging service. The third-round financing disclosed Wednesday in a securities filing brings the total raised by the startup to $123 billion, according to Crunchbase. Tom Ascheim, former Nickelodeon and Newsweek media executive, has been named the new president of ABC Family. He’ll report to Anne Sweeney, co-chair, Disney Media Networks and president, Disney/ABC Television Group. Back in September, Michael Riley departed as president of ABC Family. Ascheim began his career working for an independent film producer at Geoffrey Drummond Productions and then became a financial analyst at Silver Screen Management. Paul C. Harper Jr., former chairman of Needham Harper Worldwide advertising agency, died on Dec. 7, in Lyme, Conn. He was 92 years old. He is survived by his wife of 67 years, Eleanor Emery Harper; his six children, Diana, Jessica, William, Lindsay, Charles, and Sam; 14 grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren. A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. on Dec. 16 at the First Congregational Church of Old Lyme, 2 Ferry Road, Old Lyme.
