    Movie ticket marketplace Fandango saw record-breaking ticket sales come from mobile devices this past weekend, following the premiere of Universal Pictures’ film Fifty Shades of Grey. Fandango attributes its success to millennial behavior along with the long, holiday weekend contributing to the high numbers achieved on mobile. With the combination of Valentine’s Day and Presidents Day shaping millennials’ weekend plans, those consumers were more likely to venture to the Fandango mobile app to check movie times.

    For Dr Pepper Snapple Group’s recent endeavor to boost its multichannel strategy, the beverage company bet on programmatic mobile ads that helped drive 213,000 in-store visits to more than 1,000 grocery store locations and placed its products in 25,000 new households. Through programmatic ad platform Rocket Fuel and digital ad calculator Placed, Dr Pepper was able to execute and measure its combined mobile and in-store activation efforts.     Coca-Cola Freestyle, the branded solution that dispenses more than 100 different drink choices in participating restaurants, has joined forces with Lady Antebellum to give fans the chance to win backstage passes at one of the country music group's shows, an effort that relies on a collaborative mobile application to tell fans where the dispensers are located.   • Bank Launches Samsung Mobile Wallet
    Rabobank, based in the Netherlands, has rolled out a mobile wallet on the embedded Secure Element of select Samsung smartphones. As of now, Dutch consumers can use their smartphones to pay for shopping, check balances, store loyalty cards and redeem digital vouchers via NFC. This would work across shops that are equipped with contactless terminals. By using the Samsung SE, Rabobank is able to bypass SIM cards, issued by telecom companies, altogether. Contactless payments are available at around 66,000 retailer terminals in the Netherlands. Rabobank claims to have 150,000 customers who have downloaded its banking app on the Samsung devices.

    Cellarmaster Wines has activated its “Making it wonderful” campaign that launched in December last yearin Hong Kong with what it claims to be the world’s first virtual pop-up wine store in a train station. At Hong Kong’s busy Tsim Sha Tsui MTR station, a “storefront” billboard measures 12 meters along a walkway that connects with Tsim Sha Tsui East Station. People who photograph the store and share their images on social media using the hashtag #wonderful can win free wine and other gifts.
