Tuesday’s Meta outage caused referral traffic to news publishers from social media to plummet by 60%, Taboola reports.
Yet publishers on the Taboola platform saw a 30% increase in traffic, and large publishers experienced a 150% increase.
This showcased the reliability and accessibility of the open web when social media disruptions occur, said Taboola.
The Meta/Facebook story was the most read-about story around 12:30 p.m. ET once the outage ended, and remained so until 2 p.m., when Trump/Super Tuesday took over.
