World Cup, UFC Event Drive Growth In Streaming Usage, Downloads

Two major sporting events -- the FIFA World Cup and the UFC Freedom 250 -- drove major activity for consumers to sign on and use those respective streaming platforms.

Looking at users of those services -- a main focus for advertisers and media-buying executives -- Sensor Tower estimates show monthly active users (MAUs) over the last 30 days had Paramount+ up 34%, with Fox Sports a massive 254% higher, and Peacock growing 73%.

Paramount+ aired the UFC Freedom 250 event on Sunday, June 14 on the White House South Lawn.

The Fox Sports app and NBCUniversal’s Peacock have been running the FIFA World Cup event, which started on Thursday, June 11.

Looking at downloads of those specific streaming platforms, Sensor Tower says that day-over-day, Paramount+ sharply grew 184%. It was also up 276% over 30 days.

For the World Cup, Fox Sports was 181% higher day-over-day, with Peacock at 35%. Looking at a broader 30-day period, Fox rose more than fourteen times over the previous 30-day period.

The last published reports show total Paramount+ with 59.1 million U.S. subscribers as of the first quarter of 2026, with Peacock at 44 million.

Fox One -- the Fox Corp. streaming platform that started up in August 2025, which includes Fox Sports content -- has an estimated 2.3 million subscribers.
