During the Roblox Developers Conference (RDC) this past
weekend, the social sandbox gaming platform teased an expansion of its rewarded video ad format tools, which allow creators to place a wider variety of monetizable placements that players can watch
for in-game perks.
Originally launched in partnership with Google in April 2025,
Roblox’s rewarded video format incentivizes users to watch up to 30-second full-screen video ads and gain extra lives, power-ups, and in-game currency.
When Roblox initially rolled out its self-serve immersive video ads, it onboarded Integral Ad Science (IAS) and
Kantar.

Roblox later official partnered with Google to Google to scale its programmatic Google Reward Video ad format ads via the Google Ad Manager and AdMob.
At the time, Vice
President of Global Partnerships at Google Scott Sheffer said: “Immersive ads let publishers open opportunities for advertisers to reach audiences in a way that seems intrinsic, embedding the ad
in the game,”
By expanding the feature’s formatting options, Roblox is attempting to develop a more
seamless, no-code rewarded video placement experience for creators as they attempt to monetize their on-platform games.

past weekend, the social sandbox gaming platform teased an expansion of its rewarded video ad format tools, which allow creators to place a wider variety of monetizable placements that players can
watch for in-game perks.
Expected to launch in Q4 2026, Roblox is introducing a Studio plug-in, which creators can
use to add rewarded video through drag-and-drop 2D and 3D templates, as well as an upcoming rewarded video surface that runs before gameplay begins so creators can better test potential advertising
placements.
In addition, creators will eventually see a multi-reward option they can choose to automatically rotate within a single video placement,
alongside per-reward reports.
The announcement comes as Roblox looks to lower the technical barriers to
creator monetization, specifically in relation to coding expertise and ad management knowledge.
According to the company’s RDC presentation, these upcoming placement options are
no-code and use AI to help streamline management needs.
