• Interpublic Shaves Half A Point, Says Global Ad Spend Will Expand 4.7% In 2012
    Worldwide ad spending will expand 4.7% to a total of $427 billion, according to estimates released this morning by Interpublic's Magna Global unit at the annual UBS media conference in New York. That estimate is down slightly (-0.5%) from the +5.2% forecast Interpublic published in June 2011, "due to the softening of some markets in the second half of the year."

    Facebook on Friday said it will open an engineering office in New York City early next year, its first outside the West Coast.     Disney-ABC Television Group is reconfiguring all its daytime network and syndicated programming under one roof. In the wake of all of this, longtime Disney-ABC Television executive Brian Frons,  president of daytime, is departing. Disney-ABC veteran executive Vicki Dummer will head up a new division as executive of current series and specials of Times Square Studios.   • Yahoo Debuts Yahoo Voices
    Yahoo today launched a new site called Yahoo Voices to house the freelance-produced content the Web portal acquired through its purchase of Associated Content last year for $100 million. The collection of more than 2 million articles and other pieces of original content had been maintained until now at www.associatedcontent.com. That site is being replaced by Yahoo Voices.     David Letterman has been inching closer to Jay Leno for the better part of a year among key 18-49 viewers. Now in the key November sweep period CBS' "Late Show with David Letterman" has topped NBC's "The Tonight Show with Jay Leno" -- 1.19 million (0.9 rating/4 share) to 1.08 million 18-49 viewers (0.8 rating/3 share). CBS says this is the first time it had happened since 1994. Still Leno is ahead in terms of overall viewers 3.65 million to 3.49 million.
