Having bought many domain names, I can say that the biggest issue that could be fixed is to reduce the number of "genetic" extentions to domain names. Why this is a problem is many are extentions are sold for under $2.00 per name while a .COM sells for over $12.00 per. there are several domain Registrars that sell the cheap extentions to spammers and affiliates. 15 years ago all that were available was .COM's, .NET and .ORG. The reson for genetic extention explosion was ICANN and domain name Registrar to make money at the expense of internet security. Increase the price and fix other security issues with the ICANN rules is what is needed.
