When consumers understand how NFC could be used for shopping, many easily jump on board. The obvious problem is that most people have never heard of NFC (Near Field Communication) or what it does, even though they have it in their phone. A new study attempted to analyze how consumers would view and use NFC, if they knew about it.

Mobile consumers can't seem to get enough of apps. Worldwide app downloads grew and revenue grew even faster, at least for Android phones, based on the latest tracking study. App downloads on Google Play grew 30% from the previous quarter, according to the report from App Annie Intelligence, which tracks downloads and revenue in the iOS App Store and Google Play.

There's still a lot of mobile scanning going on. While talk about QR codes has moved to the back burner, being replaced by the likes of beacons, augmented reality and mobile payments, it doesn't mean mobile code scanning has gone away. I happened across the latest quarterly Mobile Trend Report by ScanLife, one of the very early QR code pioneers, and it has some interesting insights and scanning tidbits.
