• Conde Nast Entertainment Group Hires COO
    Conde Nast Entertainment Group has hired Sahar Elhabashi as EVP and Chief Operating Officer.  She was formerly an executive with Discovery Networks International and MTV. Elhabashi will report to CNEG president Dawn Ostroff, who is getting her personnel ducks in a row six months after joining the company, whose mission is to set up film, TV and digital projects derived from the contents of Conde Nast's 18 consumer magazines.
  • 'Washington Post' Hiring Digg Tech Staff
    "Digg isn't done. Yet. But it's looking pretty close," writes Peter Kafka, discussing the Washington Post's plans for acquiring at least some version of the news aggregator's assets. The Post is buying/hiring Digg's technology staff and putting it to work "alongside the people who built the publisher’s Social Reader Facebook app," according to sources cited by Kafka. But Digg won't shut down immediately, says Kafka: "The site’s remaining management will try to figure out how to take advantage of its brand name and traffic, according to people familiar with the company."
  • Cumulus Buys 10 Radio Stations, Sells 55, In Move To Larger Markets
    Cumulus Media has sold 55 stations in 11 small cities and gained 10 more in a $116 million deal with Townsquare Media designed to help the company move into larger markets. That brings the total of Cumulus stations to about 570 -- second to Clear Channel.
  • Viacom Partners With WhoSay
    In a new partnership with social media celebrity website WhoSay, Viacom's advertising salesforce will also sell the platform. The two will "create original content and marketing integrations for appropriate Viacom brands, including MTV, VH1, CMT, Logo, Comedy Central and Spike," according to Hollywood Reporter staff.
  • NBCU Unveiling Gaming Platform
    NBCUniversal is launching The Universal Games Networks in the fourth quarter. This platform for social and casual games can be customized to  all of the company's brands, "which means similar games can be linked to shows on USA, Syfy, Bravo and other networks," writes Jon Layfayette. Fans can earn points when playing games that can be redeemed for real-life prizes such as "show swag," according to Layfayette.
