  • Airborne To Settle False Ad Claims for $23 Million
    The parent of Airborne, a line of herbal supplements once touted as a "miracle cold buster," will settle -- for more than $23 million -- a class-action lawsuit that charged it with false advertising. Under terms of the deal, it will reimburse customers for up to six purchases of Airborne products but admit to no wrongdoing. Under terms of the agreement, the company has set up a dedicated Web site to accept claims from customers who bought products including Airborne On-the-Go, Airborne Nighttime, Airborne Gummi and Airborne Power Pixies, among others.     While the trend toward flat-panel has eroded the market share of some of the best-known brands in the TV set market, that seems to have begun to reverse as 2007 figures show some of the traditional marques back in the lead. In the fourth quarter of lat year, for instance, Samsung was No. 1 in LCD sales in North America, with a share of 14.2%, up from 12.8% the previous quarter.     ESPN has signed on filmmakers, including Spike Lee, Richard Linklater and Davis Guggenheim, for a new series of documentaries. The Disney-owned network is moving into the space with a program called "30/30" that will pair each filmmaker with a sports topic close to his or her heart. Each will create an hour-long documentary to air, likely on Tuesdays, beginning in fall 2009.
