Tribune Broadcasting is restructuring the creative service functions at its television stations by appointing two regional vice presidents for innovation and imagination. John Zeigler, formerly director/creative services of WPIX- New York, will lead the Eastern region; Carrie King, previously director/creative services of WGN America, will lead the Central region. Lee Abrams, Tribune's chief innovation officer, said: "We have to be radically and noticeably different -- we have to imagine TV and TV news in a totally new way, one that breaks through and reinvents the decades old, tired TV playbook."

Welcome to the mainstream media. The most popular cable news channel in 2Q is Fox News, which won for the total day and for prime time. The ratings, however, revealed that all the cable news channels were down from the second quarter last year. In prime time, Fox News averaged 1.9 million viewers. It had a bigger audience than MSNBC (758,000), CNN (594,000) and HLN (487,000) combined. Hearst's Seventeen 2.1 million circ mag has relaunched its Web site with a massive social-networking push aimed at pulling girls away from online networks like Facebook, instant messaging and games.
