    The pastor of a Gainesville church said late this afternoon that he is canceling plans to burn copies of the Quran on Saturday. In return, Dove World Outreach Center Pastor Terry Jones said, he's been assured that the controversial Islamic center planned near Ground Zero in New York City will be moved elsewhere.     Warner Bros. Domestic Television Distribution is beginning to make dates with key TV station groups to pitch a new syndicated talk show featuring Dr. Drew Pinsky for fall 2011, according to industry sources. Pinsky, known as Dr. Drew, and Warner Bros.' Telepictures announced in April that they were developing the show. Dr. Drew is best known for hosting reality shows like VH1's "Celebrity Rehab." Earlier this year, Pinsky, an internist who is board certified in addiction medicine, was being considered for "Lifechangers," a spinoff of Warner Bros.' Extra. But that show didn't pan out.   • TNT Greenlights 'Dallas' Remake
    BS and TNT have greenlit four pilots including a remake of the classic nighttime soap "Dallas," which ran for 13 years starting in 1978. The "Dallas pilot was ordered by TNT. It comes to the network from Warner Horizon Television and executive producer Cynthia Cidre. TNT also ordered an untitled police drama from "Wall Street: Money Never Sleeps" screenwriter Allan Loeb and Lionsgate Television as well as "Perception" from ABC Studios, which follows an "eccentric neuroscientist who uses his unique outlook to help the federal government solve cases."

    Spanish-language broadcaster Univision made history last week, beating all other broadcast networks in the coveted 18-49 demographic for the first time. Univision also managed to beat both Fox and the CW in viewers for the week. It is rerun season on Fox, CBS, NBC, ABC and the CW and the last week of August and first week of September are slow, but it's still an impressive performance, says the Los Angeles Times.     Chairman and publisher of The New York Times, Arthur Sulzberger Jr, stressed the need to take risks and not be afraid of failure in the quest to find a business model that can adequately support high quality journalism. The newspaper is due to introduce a metered paywall in early 2011. Readers will be allowed to access a certain number of articles free each month, then will be asked to pay.     Overcrowding is a perennial problem or, to be more exact, biennial problem for broadcasters and their advertisers. Every even-numbered year, money from candidates, parties and advocacy groups soars, swelling the top line, but creating a headache for station managers that have to cope with excess demand. Evan Tracey, who tracks political spending at the Campaign Media Analysis Group, believes it will approach a record $3 billion this year with TV stations getting most of it.   • Fox Serves Up More 'Master Chef'
    Fox has picked up a second season of "MasterChef," the standout reality show of the summer. The series, about amateur chefs competing under the watchful eye of Gordon Ramsay, is the first clear-cut success story for summer reality TV since "Wipeout." It is unclear whether Fox will wait until next summer to broadcast the second season of the series. Last week, NBC ordered a sixth season of its summer staple, "America's Got Talent."     NPR just launched its $3 million local journalism effort Project Argo: 12 sites hosted by 14 stations, each zeroing in on a topic of specific interest to that community -- local music in Philly, education and technology in the Bay Area, climate change on Cape Cod.     Campbell Soup kicked off the first umbrella campaign for all of its U.S. soups. Campbell is spending more than $100 million on the new effort, significantly more than what it had spent on individual campaigns in the past. According to Nielsen, the company spent $236 million advertising its U.S. soup business last year, excluding online, and $97 million through June of this year. The effort, which spans television, print, radio, online and in-store media, is part of the soup maker's strategy to reposition its products in the simple meals category.
