NBC News Forms New Production Company

NBC News has formed a new production company that will offer nonfiction programming to NBC Universal and its cable channels, including MSNBC, along with other global broadcast and cable networks. Peacock Productions brings together the talents and resources of the people behind the news division and programs like "Dateline" and already has a raft of projects in the works.

Among them are "Tom Brokaw Reports," a reality series set at an all-female detective agency; an updated version of a Hank Aaron documentary; and "9/11: The Search for the Truth."

"At a time when producing for only one outlet has now become an 'old idea,' this is a remarkable opportunity for some of the best storytellers in the business," says David Corvo, executive producer of "Dateline NBC" and executive vice president of Peacock Productions. "They will have more creative freedom than ever before and be able to reach a larger, worldwide audience on a regular basis. We want everyone in the business to know we are not just a newsmagazine unit."
