NBCUniversal - Director, Social Audience Buying

Job Purpose: 
The Social Director is responsible for the planning and execution of all social planning and buying. This role manages NBC’s overall social buying working to develop and execute innovative paid social media plans.  The Director is responsible for creating media plans that address larger strategic plan objectives and achieve goals set by the SVP, Media.  The Director will report to the SVP, Media and will be part of a larger in-house media team.  Communication across the broader in-house media team will be critical for the success of this role.  Expert knowledge in digital media planning and buying with a focus on social is essential for this role.  
 
Essential Responsibilities: 
 

  • Key participant in strategic media planning and execution across all NBC Entertainment initiatives
  • Recommends targeted, innovative media tactics consistent with media and content strategies for larger effort
  • Possesses a deep understanding of NBC’s business and the larger entertainment landscape
  • Ensures best practices are mined and then applied
  • Ability to analyze campaign performance with regular data analysis, measuring against KPIs & report on any trends & granular insights to internal stakeholders
  • Execute campaign reporting, create dashboards, and provide campaign summaries
  • Demonstrates ability to present and sell strategies/plans to department head and senior leadership team
  • Proactively seeks out and studies information to remain current on media trends
  • Develops relationship with all NBC teams that aide in the execution of paid social
  • Prioritizes, manages and ensures the timeliness and quality of media plans
  • Prepares documents to help communicate social status to both internal media team members and larger senior team
  • Oversee and guide a team of two social media managers

Qualifications/Requirements

Basic Qualifications: 

  • Bachelor's degree required.
  • Minimum 8 years of experience in media/social/paid digital agency, advertising agency, direct marketing, cable/broadcasting or similar media environment. 
  • Experience in a previous digital media role is required. Publisher experience is a plus.
  • Ability to judge and quantify results of advertising efforts placed (i.e., understand/describe impact of results, compare actual results to needs of NBC) and the knowledge of how to apply this information in future campaigns.
  • Ability to write clearly and to make lively, imaginative but substantive presentations.
  • Working knowledge of online performance tracking and measurement tools as well as leading edge media target profiling technology.
  • Well versed on the latest news within the industry that fuel opinions on latest trends .
  • Continued enthusiasm towards the medium and the desire to constantly educate one’s self on the latest information.
  • Experience in growing, managing and inspiring internal digital teams; strong leadership skills.
  • Strong interpersonal skills including clear communication skills and positive attitude.
  • Solid organizational skills, attention to detail, and accuracy when working with numbers.
  • Strong understanding of cross channel planning, demonstrating strong coordination of digital media efforts.
  • Extensive experience writing and presenting relevant information (inclusive of case studies and quarterly business reviews).
  • Understanding of marketing and communications process, and ability to execute streamlined processes across various teams.
