Tribune Co. Closes D.C. Bureau

The latest casualty of the Tribune Co. is the Washington, D.C. bureau of The Chicago Tribune, which is closing next month. The closure will eliminate 10 jobs, reports Crains. The Tribune will rely on internal resources and a news-sharing arrangement with CNN for Washington news coverage. Bob Gremillion, a vice president for Tribune Publishing, wrote in a memo: "As consumers find more and more places from which to get their national news, the need for the company to maintain its own dedicated broadcasting presence in Washington has diminished considerably."
