John Korpics has been named the new creative director of Fortune, charged with redesigning the magazine. Korpics has won two National Magazine Awards for design, one at Esquire and
another at Entertainment Weekly.
Two years ago, Korpics lost an internal competition to redesign In Style. This time around Korpics beat out an internal design team
from Time Inc. and Robert Priest, the former design director of Condé Nast's Portfolio, the financial monthly that shut down earlier this year. Robert Perino, Fortune's incumbent design
director, and Greg Pond, photography editor, are stepping down.
Time Inc. Editor-in-Chief John Huey was involved in some of the Fortune redesign meetings, triggering
speculation that he was the driving force behind the latest push to change the magazine's look.
