Fox To Premiere American Juniors on May 27

  • May 12, 2003
Fox's formerly titled Junior Idol will premiere Tuesday, May 27, and run through the summer Tuesdays and Wednesdays.

The idea is to find the country's best singers and dancers ages 6 to 13 and then assemble a five-member group. The 90-minute episode May 27 will be followed by regular weekly episodes 8-9 p.m. Tuesdays and 8:30-9 p.m. Wednesdays beginning June 3.

During the auditions, producers will evaluate each child's singing and dancing abilities and, as part of the show's production, will whittle down the group of thousands to 20 semi-finalists who will perform on air weekly. The home audience will then vote for their favorite child. Results from Tuesday night's performance will be revealed during Wednesday night's show. Each week, voters will choose the best performer and advance him/her into the final group of five.

American Juniors will be produced by 19 TV Limited and FreemantleMedia North America.
