After a flood of backlash from customers and reports of an FCC investigation, Verizon has decided to cancel its policy of charging a $2 "convenience fee" for bill payments made over the phone and online. The policy was supposed to go into effect on Jan. 15 and was designed as a sort of tax to encourage customers to sign up for automatic payments.
It only took about 24 hours for the company to decide it wasn't worth a bunch of angry customers.
