Pickle Pizza? The Hut Says Yes -- For A Limited Time

Pizza Hut has launched a new concoction that forgoes tomato sauce for Buttermilk Ranch, and is topped with cheese and a crispy breaded chicken breast -- and, by the way, a heaping helping of dill pickles.

Pizza Hut calls the new item a “Pickle Pizza,” and it was only available at one Pizza Hut location: 932 Eighth Ave. in New York City from June 9-11, while supplies last.

“We’re always looking for innovative ways to add new tastes and textures to our dishes, and pickles have been gaining popularity due to their versatility,” says Penny Shaheen, the company's head of food innovation. “With our new Pickle Pizza, we’re tapping into the latest food trends while also putting culinary thought into how they come to life on a pizza. Our recipe is all about great flavor, balancing the tanginess of pickles with other classic ingredients we know taste good on our beloved pizza.”

The Pickle Pizza cost $17.99.

Pickle Pizza isn’t new—other iterations have appeared in recent years—but Pizza Hut is the first national chain to serve Pickle Pizza, according to the company.

Pizza Hut credits creators on TikTok for inspiring the idea.

When past chefs have experimented with Pickle Pizza, the responses weren’t always welcoming. In 2018, when Rhino’s Pizzaria and Deli in Webster, N.Y., floated the idea on Instagram, celebrity chef Gordon Ramsey replied with a simple “No.”
