Showtime Networks recently launched a comprehensive study on the simultaneous usage of television and the Internet. The results conclude that approximately 25 million households simultaneously use
online services and watch television, which is an increase of 39% from January of 1999. Other key findings show that 55 million U.S. households own at least one personal computer and there is a strong
interest in developing "one box" technology (Internet and television combined), especially among young consumers and their baby boomer parents. The study also found that co-usage occurs most often
among three programming types: news at 31%, sitcoms at 30%, and sports at 30%. Copies of this study are available by calling Judy Pinney at 831-624-1536, ext. 207.
