Turner Sports, which manages Nascar.com, has inked a deal with News Corp.'s Speed Channel to launch 'Nascar on Speed, a new Web video channel on Nascar.com. The new video channel, which went live
yesterday, is entirely Speed-branded and will feature talent from the Speed Network, even though Turner's own cable networks TNT and TBS have long broadcasted Nascar events.
Among the
original shows offered each week via Nascar on Speed are Speed's "Race & Chase Preview," which will feature several current drivers. Besides originals, the new video channel will house
programming from the Tuner cable network.
Why go beyond the Turner properties? "This deal is about serving the site's audience," says Scott Doyne, senior director for Nascar.com. "From
the standpoint of Nascar.com, our goal is to bring the site the best content we can. If that means working with Speed talent, that's good for everybody."
