Rainbow Media, the programming unit of Cablevision, which operates such cable networks as Bravo and American Movie Classics, has been put up for sale, and Barry Diller's USA Networks appears to be the
front-runner to buy it. Comcast, Liberty Media and NBC, which already owns 26 percent of Rainbow, have also been contacted about the sale by Cablevision, which hopes to net $5 billion from the deal,
according to the New York Times.
