DirectTV Joins Hulu Watchers

Last month, the sale of video site Hulu LLC entered its next phase as initial presentations by potential buyers ended and an in-depth look at potential tie-ups began. Many of the top video and TV services reportedly expressed interest, including Google, Yahoo and Amazon. Now, DirecTV just confirmed during its earnings that it is looking at Hulu, too. "As we've noted before, this isn't surprising, and compared to other would-be bidders, the satellite TV company might make a logical home for the video site (jointly owned by Disney, Comcast and News Corp. which also owns this site)," All Things Digital writes.

Still noticeably absent from the acquisition talks in Hulu rival Netflix, which has ambitions to stream a wide variety of video content to subscribers from movies to TV shows. The degree to which the two properties could compliment each other, however, is potentially great.

According to recent research from Nielsen, the vast majority of Hulu viewers get their video fixes via computer, while far less Netflix users rely on their "small screens.
