Lake Gets Promotion at NBC

  • February 3, 2003
Deborah Lake has been promoted to Vice President, Commercial Standards and Program Compliance for NBC, based in New York. The announcement was made today by Alan Wurtzel, President, NBC Research and Media Development, to whom she will report. Lake replaces Rick Gitter, who, after 23 years of working in NBC’s Standards Department, is retiring. Lake has been with NBC’s Standards Department since January 1998, first serving as Manager of Program Standards in Burbank, then as director and most recently as senior director in New York. “Deborah brings a great deal of experience and talent to this position,” said Wurtzel. “Her management skills, legal background and in-depth knowledge of the broadcast standards processes at NBC make her the ideal person for this role.” Wurtzel added, “We would be remiss not to recognize the many significant contributions Rick Gitter has made to the Department. His skills, insight and experience will be missed.” In her new role, Lake will supervise NBC’s Commercial Standards Division, which is responsible for the review of all network commercials prior to telecast to ensure they meet with NBC‘s internal policies and all governmental regulations. Additionally, Lake will be responsible for the review of all network primetime, reality, award and game programs and promotions, to ensure their integrity and compliance with NBC standards.
