Paxson Communications Corp. announced today that its local PAX TV stations, WPXM TV-35 in Miami and WPXP-67 in West Palm Beach will broadcast 55 Florida Marlins games during the 2003 Major League Baseball season, under an agreement with Univision of Miami Inc., and Fox Sports Net Florida, the exclusive television rights holder for Marlins baseball. Under the terms of the exclusive broadcast agreement, the Florida Marlins broadcast schedule on PAX will kick off opening day of the Marlins baseball season on Monday, March 31 at 4:05 p.m. when the Marlins take on the Phillies in Philadelphia. Dean Goodman, Paxson's President and Chief Operating Officer, said: "The Florida Marlins are back for a second season on PAX and have proven to be a ratings winner. We have a commitment at PAX TV to focus on family entertainment and baseball is clearly America's favorite pastime. We're delighted to continue this association with Fox Sports Net to promote the team on both of our South Florida PAX stations."
