New York Times Names Sports Editor

The New York Times assistant news editor Thomas Jolly has been named as the top editor of the sports page. Jolly takes the post from Neil Amdur, who was appointed senior editor for staffing/national recruiting last August and oversaw the search for his own successor. It is a return to the sports page for Jolly, 47, who was assistant sports editor from 1997 to 2000.
