Telemundo Finalizes Plans for War Coverage

  • March 14, 2003
Add Telemundo to the list of North American networks heavily covering the pending war in Iraq. Telemundo Network News, a division of NBC News, is providing Spanish-speaking viewers coverage from Baghdad, Kuwait and Israel. If war occurs, Telemundo will provide continuous uninterrupted news coverage on Telemundo Network and Telemundo Internacional, which is seen throughout Latin America. Telemundo’s reporters are co-deployed with NBC News personnel in the region. Telemundo also is gathering chemical and biological warfare experts, as well as a former U.S. general and government officials. “All Americans are affected by events in Iraq. Thousands of Hispanics are on America’s frontlines, and Telemundo Network News will be with them,” said Joe Peyronnin, EVP of Telemundo Network News. In September 2001, Telemundo Network News provided 133 hours of continuous live news coverage of the terrorist attacks on New York and Washington, D.C. It received a special Emmy award late last year for the coverage.
