measurement tools," possibly combined with a big buy, that would fuel revenue gains in coming years. Marketing and media research have been the company's biggest growth engines in recent years, and
there has been speculation that VNU might attempt an acquisition of publicly traded radio research Arbitron, which has a patent on a promising new portable people meter measurement system that Nielsen
has rights to license.
