American Media announced Thursday that total revenues increased $8.5 million, or 6.8 percent for the company's first quarter 2005, which ended on June 28, 2004. During the quarter, advertising
revenues increased 14.3 percent while circulation revenues increased by 3.5 percent versus the same quarter last year. The company credited the re-launch of
Star magazine in April 2004 and the
continuing strength of
Shape magazine as key to driving the revenue growth.
