Ken Dice, executive vice president, marketing, Discovery Networks, U.S., to whom Schembri reports, cited his "extensive media planning and buying skills, and experience working with some of the most recognized brands in the world," in hiring the former J. Walter Thompson senior partner and communications director.
In his new role, Schembri will oversee the media planning and strategy efforts across Discovery's 13 U.S. networks. Schembri is responsible for media positioning and cross-network promotion in accordance with major campaigns and company initiatives. He is also charged with the creation and execution of media partnerships and management of the Discovery Networks media planning teams and an external media agency. During his eight years at JWT in Detroit, Schembri worked with such clients as Ford Motor Company, Shell Oil, and Domino's Pizza.
