Google VP Expresses Concern Over Documented Culture as Formats Change

Society saves a lot not having to print out every document or photo by storing them online or in our inboxes, however Vint Cerf, a VP at Google has warned that we shouldn't rely on digitized material. While it may be easy to access a document stored in your email or a photo on Facebook, Cerf points out that we face becoming a “forgotten generation, or even a forgotten century” if the tools to access this information become defunct. After all, we need today's computers and software programs to access these social networks and email inboxes. If these tools become obsolete, the potential for our digital histories could be lost.
