Google Wins Typosquatting Case

  • July 11, 2005
Google won a "typosquatting" case last week, reclaiming rights to the terms googkle.com, ghoggle.com, gfoogle.com and gooigle.com. The search giant filed a complaint with the National Arbitration Forum in May, after it came to light that visitors who mistyped Google's name ended up on sites that attempted to install viruses, spyware and other malware. The registered owner of the misspelled sites, Sergey Gridadov of Russia, did not participate in the arbitration.
