News Corp. Chairman-CEO Rupert Murdoch will return to the position of publisher of the
New York Post for the first time since 1986, the paper said Wednesday. Murdoch ironically replaces his
son, Lachlan, who abruptly resigned from the position, as well as an officer of News Corp. Murdoch previously served as the
Post's publisher from 1976, when News Corp. bought the paper, until
1986, when Patrick Purcell took over the position. News Corp. sold the paper in 1988, but purchased it again in 1993. -- Michael Deibert
