Delta Air Lines, the last airline still offering empty middle seats to promote social distancing, plans to start selling those seats on flights starting May 1. “With inoculations rising and
travelers telling us they’re ready to return to Delta, today we’re making a number of changes to our service to meet our customers’ needs,” Delta CEO Ed Bastian said in a March
31 statement. Other airlines that had also blocked middle seats — Southwest Airlines, Hawaiian Airlines and Alaska Airlines — have one by one starting offering them for sale again.
