News Corp. Promotes Digital Czar

News Corp. promoted its head of Internet acquisitions, Jeremy Philips, to executive vice president from senior vice president, the company said Tuesday. Philips, a 33-year-old native of Sydney, Australia, will continue to focus on acquiring Web properties. In the last year, Philips oversaw News Corp.'s purchase of MySpace.com, IGN Entertainment Co., and Scout Media Inc. News Corp. CEO and chairman Rupert Murdoch has said the company could spend as much as $2 billion acquiring Web properties.
