20-100 Slices Of American Cheese? At BK Thai,That's A 'Real Cheeseburger'

Experimentation is the norm for fast-food restaurants in 2023. This summer, Taco Bell tested its first vegan menu item, a Vegan Crunchwrap. Meanwhile, Domino’s has introduced a Pickle Pizza, while Jack in the Box teamed with Snoop Dogg for a munchie meal.

But perhaps the oddest fast-food item so far this year is the all-cheese “Real Cheeseburger” from Burger King Thailand.

The Real Cheeseburger consists of 20 slices of American cheese inside a sesame burger bun. “By many accounts, the cheese is often not even grilled or melted,” according to The New York Times.

The sandwich is priced at 109 Thai Baht, or about $3.15. Burger King is believed to have stopped selling the sandwich on Thursday, though it appeared on the brand’s Thai website and at least one BK restaurant in Thailand.

The item may have had limited appeal in real life, but on social media, that’s another story. This TikTok video shows a man ordering a Real Cheeseburger with 100 cheese slices in Thailand.

According to the website FatSecret, each slice of Kraft American Cheese has 50 calories 4 grams of saturated fat, so the sandwich with 100 cheese slices has about 5,000 calories. Healthline reports that most female adults need 1,600-2,200 calories and most adult males need 2,200-3,000 calories a day, so this sandwich is way out of bounds.

Reddit users didn’t hold back on what they thought of the offering. “I would gag,” wrote one. “I’ll pray for your colon,” read another.
