Hearst Magazines Lays Off 41 Staff Members, Union Reports

A staff layoff hit some Hearst union employees on Thursday.

“This morning, we were notified that Hearst Magazines has laid off 41 of our unit members,” the Hearst Magazine Media Union tweeted. “Due to ‘company restructuring,’ we are losing talented people whose creativity and institutional knowledge is immeasurable.”

Several publications were affected, including Elle, Seventeen and Men’s Health, according to The Wrap.

A Hearst Magazines spokesperson said, “As we continue to produce the highest-quality content across all platforms, we’re also making strategic decisions that position the business for long-term growth,” The Wrap continued.
