Alison Phillips Leaving Her Post as EIC Of 'Daily Mirror'

Alison Phillips is stepping down from her role as editor-in-chief of the Daily Mirror at the end of the month.

This is occurring as The Mirror’s parent, Reach plc, plans to cut 10% of its workforce — some 450 jobs, BBC reports.

Phillips, who has served in that title since 2018, will be replaced on an interim basis by Caroline Waterston, editor-in-chief of Reach plc's national magazines and supplements.

Reach chief executive Jim Mullen praised Phillips' dedication.

The company said in July that the cost of printing newspapers had risen by 60% due to high energy prices.

Last month, Prince Harry won 15 claims in his case accusing Mirror Group Newspapers of unlawfully gathering information for stories published about him, BBC reports.
