'Grey's Anatomy' ABC's New Kingpin, 'Housewives' Takes A Hit From "Sopranos"

  • March 14, 2006
ABC's "Grey's Anatomy" has now assumed the role of Sunday night leader--an honor previously held by "Desperate Housewives," its 9 p.m. lead in. Grey's" easily dominated the evening with a 9.9 rating/23 share in the adults 18-49 demographic, according to preliminary estimates from Nielsen Media Research. "Housewives" earned a still strong 8.8/19--but is off versus a year ago and earlier season numbers. Analysts say "Housewives" was almost assuredly hurt by the return of "The Sopranos" which ran against it during the 9 p.m. hour on HBO.
