Financial analysts at BIAfn issued a revised "top 10" list of radio stations ranked by their 2005 revenues on Wednesday. Not surprisingly, the top stations were all located in major metropolitan
areas--namely, Los Angeles, New York, and Chicago. Los Angeles' KROQ-FM led the pack with $67.6 million revenue in 2005, followed by New York's WINS-AM with $60.8 million. Both stations are owned by
CBS. Clear Channel properties in those two cities followed close behind, with KFI-AM in Los Angeles earning $59.3 million and WLTW-FM earning $58.9 million in New York. Emmis Communications' KPWR-FM
in Los Angeles took fifth place with $57.9 million, while Tribune Broadcasting Company's WGN-AM took in $52.4 million in Chicago. The rest of the stations--all owned by Clear Channel or CBS and
located in Los Angeles or New York--ranged between $51.2 and $56.2 million in 2005 sales.
