GateHouse Media is buying nine publications from The Copley Press, for a net purchase price of $380 million. The deal is expected to close at the end of April. The newspapers--seven dailies and two
weeklies--are in smaller markets: Springfield, Peoria, IL and Canton, Ohio. The total combined daily circulation of these papers is 241,060. The two weekly newspapers have a combined circulation of
34,918.
