Lorber Goes Digital, Focusing On Secular Spirituality

  • June 8, 2007
Long-time TV program distribution executive Richard Lorber has a new digital distribution business following the merger of his six-year-old business development firm Lorber Media Inc. with non-fiction production company Hidden Treasures.

The new firm, Lorber HT Digital, with Richard Lorber serving as president and CEO, will acquire and market specialty documentary programming for digital platforms, with an initial focus on what it terms "secular spirituality" content.

"The Internet is the optimal means of reaching geographically and demographically dispersed audiences with affinity interests," said Lorber in a statement. "Whether as DVDs or downloads, widgets or bits, we'll deliver nourishing nonfiction with an impeccable pedigree that thoughtful audiences will want to access and assimilate."

The former Hidden Treasures Productions has produced such programs as "Secrets of Angels, Demons and Masons" and "Secrets of Mary Magdalene." As co-chairman of WinStar TV and Video several years ago, Lorber released such shows as "Joseph Campbell's Power of Myth" and the "Mystic Fire" collection.

Lorber, who was also co-founder and head of Fox Lorber, continues to serve as president of theatrical film distributor Koch Lorber Films.
