Oxygen, Glam Media Connect For Online Game

  • June 12, 2007
Oxygen and Glam Media have partnered to create the "Fight Girls Fantasy League," an online game pegged to the premiere of Oxygen's newest series, "Fight Girls."

Starting today, "Fight Girls" follows 10 female fighters as they train to compete in Thailand's World Muay Thai Championship. The game allows players to draft fighters from the series for their own fantasy team and watch as they compete throughout the season.

Glam Media and Oxygen commissioned Fafarazzi (a celebrity gossip-focused online gaming Web site) to develop the "Fight Girls Fantasy League," both as a way to drive buzz about the show and encourage viewers to stay connected with the characters throughout the season.

The game also banks on the widespread popularity of fantasy leagues in sports such as baseball and football. According to Cynthia Ashworth, senior vice president of marketing for Oxygen, "we wanted to create something that tapped into that arena and also resonated with our audience."
